Bulgaria and Poland will collaborate for the creation of a common energy policy, United Press International reported.
The two countries will work together under the common EU energy policy for increasing the range of power production sources, Polish prime minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz said after a work meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart Sergei Stanishev.
At least one mutual natural gas project will be executed, said Marcinkiewicz on Wednesday.
Such projects become increasingly needed, after Russia’s natural gas supplier Gazprom decided to hike prices. The conflict over prices with Ukraine cut the natural gas supply to European countries temporarily, United Press International reported.
After the meeting Stanishev said both Poland and Bulgaria are interested in the completion of the Nabucco pipeline project. This project should not be seen as economic competition to Russia but rather as an alternative supply source, said Stanishev.
