The contract for Bourgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline project between Bulgaria, Russia and Greece would be signed by the end of 2006, Russian minister of industry and energy Victor Khristenko said as quoted by Bulgarian National Radio.
The pipeline would carry Russian petroleum through Bulgarias city of Bourgas to the Greek Alexandroupolis where it would be processed. The petroleum would be delivered to Bourgas by oil tankers.
The pipeline would be 300 km long and would carry from 15 to 35 million tons of petroleum annually, the national radio reported.
Bulgaria, Russia and Greece negotiated actively both on commercial and governmental level, Khristenko said. The main conditions were already talked over, he said.
The co-operation declaration signed by the Russian, Bulgarian and Greek presidents on September 4 2006 moved negotiations forward, Khristenko said.
