09:36 Mon 02 Oct 2006

Bulgarian company Solvay Sodi invested 70 million euro in the construction of a new steam boiler for the Deven thermal power plant, Darik Radio reported.

American company Foster Wheeler will construct the equipment.

Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev said this was the biggest investment in Bulgaria’s industrial sector for 2006.

The new equipment would help the thermal power plant meet all EU ecological standards, Stanishev said.

Work on the project would finish by the end of 2008, Darik said. The construction would open 250 work places.

Solvay received a first class investor certificate for the investment it decided to make in the modernisation of the power plant, Darik said.
