Bulgarian chess player Vesselin Topalov will play against 40-year-old Alex Brunetti while blindfolded.
The demonstration match will take place at the Grand Hotel Sofia on May 8, before the start of the M-Tel Masters chess tournament in Sofia, Focus news agency reported.
Each of the two players will have 30 min to play.
Brunetti won a competition entitled Play like Topalov, held during the 2006 M-Tel Masters. Chess fans had to anticipate Topalov’s moves on the competition’s website.
The game caught the imagination of chess fans, and more than 1850 people throughout the world took part.
Blindfold matches are becoming very popular among chess fans throughout the world. Nearly 1000 spectators attended a match between Topalov and top female chess player Judit Polgar last year in Bilbao, Spain. Topalov beat Polgar 3:1.
