Architectural fragments from Bulgaria are shown in the Austrian capital of Vienna.

The fragments represented Bulgarian architectural designs from various periods, from medieval monasteries to soviet-style buildings from the socialist era, netinfo.bg reported.

The end of 19th and the beginning of 20th century were considered the beginning of Bulgarian architecture. Works from the last centuries impressed with diversity and new shapes, discovered between the East and the West, netinfo.bg said.

Austrian architecture had a strong influence in Bulgaria. After Sofia became the capital, architects from the Austro-Hungarian Empire arrived in Bulgaria and introduced new ways of design and construction.

Sofia’s Military School, the Military Club, the Synagogue, and seminary are among the buildings which bear that influence.
