Heavy rains on October 22 2007 flooded Sofia’s Tsarigradsko Shausse.
Roads were flooded with water and traffic was hindered, Focus news agency reported. The situation was similar in the residential district of Orlandovtsi, where a tram stop was flooded.
In the town of Vratsa it rained with three litres per sq m per hour. It had been raining for the second day and 48 litres of rain per sq m had fallen. On October 22, between 9am and 3pm only, 16 liters of rains fell per sq m.
Daniel Milkov from the Civil Protection service said that situation in Vratsa is relatively calm and no crisis calls had been received. The dams in the region were under control.
In Dupnitsa the downpours caused leakage of the local emergency centre roof. The leakage could cause short circuit.
