French president Nikolas Sarkozy and his wife Cecilia Sarkozy will make an official visit to Bulgaria on October 4 on the invitation of Bulgarian President Georgi Purvanov.
Sarkozy's programme would include meetings with Purvanov, Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev and a lecture at Sofia University, a Bulgarian President's press office press release said.
Purvanov would grant French president and his wife would be granted highest state honours.
The couple would also meet the six Bulgarian medics who were released from Lybia with the help of the French president and his wife.
French President recently said that he did not regret the role France played in the liberation of the six Bulgarian medics accused of deliberate HIV infection in Libya.
During my pre-election campaign I said that I will go to collect the Bulgarian nurses and I have no regrets that is exactly what happened, Sarkozy said.
European External Relations commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner received Bulgarias highest honour, the Stara Planina order first degree on September 17 2007 for her outstanding role in the same case.
