Economic policies and prospects in light of the world financial crisis will be on the agenda of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regular mission to Bulgaria on December 3-15 2008, the IMF said on December 1 2008.
The IMF mission arrives on December 3 2008. In the period leading up to December 15 it will hold talks with Government officials, members of Parliament, employers, trade unions, bankers and think-tanks.
The visit takes place at a time when several countries have applied for funding by the IMF in an effort to ride the global financial crisis.
As a shareholder in the IMF, Bulgaria can get funding from it quickly and at any time but currently the country sees no need to do so, Finance Minister Plamen Oresharski said on November 18 2008.
The IMF mission will consist of Bas Bakker (head of mission), Jianping Zhou, Tonny Lybek, and Paolo Dudine. The IMF senior regional representative Fernandez-Ansola and Ana Mihaylova from the IMF Sofia office will also participate in the meetings.
The mission is expected to announce its conclusions at a press conference on December 15 2008.
