JORDAN AND BULGARIA TO IMPROVE RELATIONS IN AGRICULTURE AND FOOD INDUSTRIES
14:31 Tue 04 Dec 2007 - Elitsa Savova

Jordan had great expectations for co-operation with Bulgaria's agriculture and food industry, Jordanian king Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein told Bulgarian President Georgi Purvanov at their meeting, part of Purvanov’s official visit to Jordan, Purvanov said during a Bulgarian-Jordanian business forum held in Amman.

Non-intensive were the bipartite relations in tourism as well, given the much bigger opportunities in the field, king Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein told Purvanov.

Co-operation in these fields was the least Bulgaria and Jordan could do for the development of bipartite relations, according to the Jordanian king.

Focus news agency quoted Purvanov as saying that Bulgaria should restore its traditions for co-operation of its defence industry with the countries in the region. He emphasised Bulgarian information and communication technologies, which offered high quality at reasonable prices. Bulgarian constructors were also very famous in the Arab world, including in Jordan.

Purvanov and king Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein discussed the possibility for Jordan to become a gateway for Bulgaria for the whole Near East region, while Bulgaria would be Jordan’s way to EU markets.

Bulgarian economy’s ties to the euro however was said to be a possible problem for economic relations between the two countries, as Jordan’s economy was linked to the US dollar.
