Kosovo politicians dismissed the call from Russia, India and China for new talks on the status of Kosovo as unfounded, as the province's status has already been settled, Serbian broadcaster B92 reported.

Kosovo justice minister Nekibe Kelmendi told KiM radio that she believed the call for new talks merely served to lean on those countries that had not yet recognised Kosovo as an independent state.

"Kosovo's status is no longer an issue, it has been settled," Kelmendi was quoted as saying. "Serbia had plenty of time during the talks, but did not wish to settle the matter through negotiations. Kosovo's status has been settled on the basis of the Ahtisaari Plan and that document gave it green light to declare independence and self-determination," she said.

Kelmendi ruled out the possibility of new status talks, saying that Serbia and Kosovo could negotiate as two independent states on technical matters that concerned both countries, B92 reported.

"It would be better if Serbia didn't play these sort of games through Russia, China and India. The best thing would be if Serbia thought well of herself and not ill of Kosovo," Kelmendi was quoted as saying.
