Economy and Energy Minister Petar Dimitrov said on January 14 after a meeting with union KT Podkrepa, that the Kremikovtzi metal processing plant should continue to fulfil its investment plan.
Dimitrov said the ministry wants the plant to stop polluting Bulgaria's capital by investing in modern, environmental friendly technology.
Representatives of KT Podkrepa said that a possible closure of the plant, as suggested by Sofia's municipality, was a source of worries for union members. According to the union, more than 450 companies were involved in the plant's production and collectively they had around 70 000 employees.
