Labour and Social Policies Minister Emilia Maslarova met the director of the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions Jorma Karppinen.
The two discussed opportunities for co-operation and Maslarova presented the ministrys goals in the spheres of employment and social co-operation, Focus news agency reported.
Bulgaria needs to develop strategies for providing work opportunities for people nearing pension age, Maslarova said. Officials should also consider means for ensuring labour market flexibility, said she.
The analyses and programmes of the foundation would aid the projects through presenting European practices and expertise, Maslarova said. Karppinen said the foundation is ready to offer the latest research data in the spheres of interest to Bulgaria.
The foundation can also provide assistance in the implementation of the so-called European co-ordination method, Karppinen said. He said Bulgaria has achieved significant progress but can benefit from outside experience.
