The average price of land in the centre of Sofia increased by 1.07 per cent in April, the national real estate company Foros said.
Prices reached 1 700 euro per sq m, which is the highest average price for land in Sofia so far, investor.bg reported.
Second ranks the region near Sofia's Medical Academy, where land prices reached 1 394 euro per sq m. Third is the residential district Zona B19 with prices of 1 268 euro per sq m.
Razsadnika is another residential area in Sofia, where prices exceed 1 000 euro per sq m.
The cheapest land in Sofia was offered in the residential area of Benkovski, 21 euro per sq m and in Chelopech, 15 euro per sq m.
Bounkera villa zone registered the highest price decrease. Values there dropped by 21.74 per cent to 180 euro per sq m.
The prices in the Studentski Grad increased by 6.82 per cent reaching 423 euro per sq m. Prices in Borovo went up by 40 per cent and prices in Goroublyane by 34 per cent.
The village of Pancharevo offered the highest average price of plots in the Sofia region. Average prices in the village reached 98 euro per sq m.
The project will be financed by the Bulgarian Bank for Development, and the Joint European Support for Sustainable Investment in City Areas, or Jessica Programme, although the report has so far failed to reveal the total cost of the vast enterprise.
The strategic plan envisages the conservation of the nature "for decades ahead", and it was formulated by a municipal team headed by professor Ivan Nikiforov, backed by Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev.
Once the overhaul and reconstruction of the Sofia–Vidin line is complete, it will cut travel time to three hours, as the train will be able to reach speeds of up to 160 km/h, shortening the journey to three hours.
Marriott however has made it clear that is not interested in investing in construction, but rather to occupy and manage existing buildings. Its strategy is to obtain management contracts.
Investors realise that it’s not viable to have a building remaining empty over the course of a year – so it's better for them to employ more flexibility to offset that loss.
