Bulgarian international and Manchester City winger Martin Petrov was one of the most successful transfers in England in 2007, according to the British daily The Sun.
The tabloid placed Petrov on eighth place in its Top 10 rankings. Petrov got used to the game in the Premiership very fast and become one of the most dangerous players on a revitalised Manchester City team, the newspaper said.
The Citizens paid Atletico Madrid 4.7 million pounds sterling for the Bulgarian last summer, which brought an instant return of five goals and nine assists for a team that has scored only 50 goals for the season.
Petrov's former teammate at Atletico, Spanish striker Fernando Torres, who joined Liverpool in a 20 million pounds sterling deal, was the season's transfer hit, bagging 32 goals in his debut season in England, The Sun said.
