On February 9 2008, Bulgarian member of the European Parliament Dushana Zdravkova and students from Oxford University will stage a charity concert for the disabled children from the Mogilino social care home.
The concert will be held at Oxford University.
Oxford students and Bulgarian performers will take part in the concert. The event will collect money for the social care home and attract attention of more people to the problems of abandoned children with disabilities.
Zdravkova and European Parliament rapporteur for Bulgaria Geoffrey Van Orden would read a short lecture before the concert, Bulgarian news agency BTA said.
The lecture will focus on the participation of young people in the formation of European policies and on the Mogilino case as one of the typical cases when public reactions turn into a mechanism for political actions.
The Mogilino social care home became the focus of international criticism after a BBC documentary which portrayed the shockingly bad living conditions of the children.
