Politicians from different formations agreed the next political season will be mainly occupied with work on meeting EU accession criteria for on-time membership. The main priority will be harmonising Bulgarian and European laws, as well as accepting changes to the constitution. Members of the National Movement Simeon II (NMSII) said that education and health care reforms would follow the more urgent changes in the legislative system. In addition, by that time the Cabinet would have clarity on budget income.
The ruling Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) faces the difficult task of popularising EU-related reforms among the party electorate. Some of the measures are not well accepted among BSP supporters. The BSP has already failed to fulfill some of its election promises.
Opposition right wing parties will try to get their proposal for constitution changes approved. The changes right-wing parties advocate differ from the project of the ruling coalition. Some of the differences focus on the powers of the Prosecutor-General and the number of members of Parliament, Dnevnik newspaper reported.
