Svetlin Marinov has been an enthusiastic geocacher since 2005 and is one of the most active players in Bulgaria. As a pro on the topic, he has valuable advice and experience to share with you:
- Every cache hunt is a great opportunity to go somewhere new, discover new places, let others tell you a nice place that they know of and take you there. You never know what adventures you will have to go through in order to find the cache at the end.
- Finding the approximate cache location is hardly the end of your adventure, because you have t
o actually find the container itself. Caches can come in many shapes and sizes. “I’ve heard of a geocache that is as big as a room, and located underground. There are caches in caves, fields, forests, abandoned mines or just your common city cache hidden below a bench or near a tree in the park where you can take your kids as well, providing fun for the whole family.”
- Be the first to find a cache and win special FTF (first-to-find) prizes – go after one of the 17 undiscovered caches in Bulgaria.
- Join the online geocaching community in Bulgaria on geocaching-bulgaria.com: “We have a forum where we discuss our ideas, meetings and geocaching stories; and sometimes we even create “geocaching events,” Svetlin says, “that is, you set the time, date and the co-ordinates where everyone is invited to join in for an event – in most cases an event goes by eating, drinking, discussing, exchanging geocaching items and finding/hiding new geocaches in the area around.”
