Bulgaria's commission for declassification of the archives of the communist-era secret services published on January 30 the final findings of its inquest into the past of the candidates who ran for mayor and municipal councilor at the last local elections.
The last list included 388 names, taking the final tally to 1173.
The commission had to carry out its probe in several stages because of the large number of candidates, completing its investigation nearly three months after the elections, Focus news agency said.
The inquest previously found that two of the 17 members of the Central Electoral Commission for the local elections, held in October 2007, had worked for the communist era secret services.
