STOCK WATCH: Slow recovery

The Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) started recovering, after all stock indices closed the week ending on April 4 with a loss. At the end of trading on April 4, the Sofix was down 3.49 per cent to 1203.5 points, whereas the broader BG40 shed 3.21 per cent to 324.94 points. BGTR30 and BGREIT lost 1.54 per cent and 1.46 per cent, respectively, to 809.9 and 95.96 points.

On April 8, the Sofix ended at 1206.9 points, a daily increase of 0.27 per cent. BG40 was up 0.03 per cent to 345.36 points. BG REIT closed 0.35 per cent down to 95.97 points.

Gains came hand-in-hand with more active trade of the bourse’s liquid shares. Analysts believe the optimistic sentiment will dominate throughout the week on news that fuel trader Petrol, would be selling part of its petrol stations to peer LUKoil Bulgaria.

Meanwhile, Doverie Obedinen Holding successfully wrapped up the subscription campaign for 876 657 new shares, with investors bidding for 97.6 per cent of the shares. Proceeds are expected to total 10 million leva.

Meanwhile, March turnover on the BSE showed a solid monthly and annual increases, the bourse’s March bulletin released on April 8 showed. The average daily number of deals during the month was 2084 and the average daily turnover stood at 16.41 million leva, in what was a 64.79 per cent increase on the month and 8.09 per cent on the year.

The total number of deals signed in March came in at 41 688, whereas turnover came in at 328.09 million leva.

As of March 31, the market capitalisation on the bourse reached 23.25 billion leva, down 8.89 per cent on the month and up 27.48 per cent on the year.

Chimimport was the most liquid company in March, investors striking 3096 deals for shares worth 8.9 million leva. Eurohold Bulgaria AD was the second most traded stock with 2073 deals and 3.15 million leva in turnover. Monbat came in third with 1830 deals and 7.26 million leva turnover, Enemona AD, fourth with 1754 deals and 4.52 million leva turnover, and Holding Putishta AD, fifth with 1555 deals and 7.11 million leva turnover.

The top five ranking of brokerages in March remained unchanged. Karoll AD retained its first place, followed by BenchMark Finance, Elana Trading, Youg Market and Populyarna Kasa.
