Facing serious problems with organised crime and corruption, and inadequacy in dealing with European funds, Bulgaria has appointed new ministers to deal with these issues. Defence, agriculture and health also have new ministers in charge.

In the new issue of The Sofia Echo, published on April 25, there are details of the reactions to the new appointments, and a page of pen sketches of the new incumbents.

In its regular coverage of South Eastern Europe, the newspaper examines the latest developments around Kosovo, including the exchange of the rival points of view of Serbia and Kosovo at a meeting of a UN Security Council profoundly divided on the issue.

Full pages are devoted to the newest trends in tourism and property, respectively, including a report on the most recent property expos held in Sofia.

To mark the national day of the Netherlands, The Sofia Echo this week includes an extensive special feature on relations between the two countries, with interviews with Dutch expatriates in Bulgaria.

The issue also includes regular features such as film, restaurant and venue reviews, our weekly page of social photos, television and cinema listings and our guide to what’s on on the entertainment and cultural front in the coming week.
