TO THE EDITOR: The United Nations and Kosovo
16:00 Fri 25 Apr 2008

Sir

The possible refusal by the United Nations to recognise the independence of Kosovo is an insult not only to democracy but to the United States as well. The newly independent Kosovo suffered years of brutal abuse from both communist Yugoslavia and the Serbian authorities during the past 15 years of the Balkan wars. The UN once again might support aggression and terrorism just as it did in Bosnia with its inhumane arms embargo against the Bosnians that led to massive death and destruction of the Bosnian Muslims. Later, this policy would encourage a worldwide militant Islamists response that the United States suffers from on a daily basis even today with angry Muslims killing and making violence around the world.

The US should use its diplomatic and economic power to force the less that democratic nations of the world to allow all people to have basic human rights. Otherwise we as Americans will suffer from the UN and its members support of brutality, and we as Americans will then suffer from the response of the affected people, which many times includes those in the Islamic world.

A comentator of Greek identity said that their Prime Minister Karamanlis is Macedonian. First of all Karamanlis is from a Pontios from Asia Minor. Our Legengary Gotse Delcev was born in Macedonia 35 km. to the north of Solun. Are you Greeks still live in your mythical dreams?Snap out of it will you.just read the decision of the Brussel report on Human Rights Violations by Greece againts the Macrdonian Minority in Greece. This report is written by Steve Gligorov.Read Application no. 74989/01 of April 17, 2008, Articles 11 and 6 of the European Convention.I am not supriset by your ministers dream, he is hiding his real identity, and he seams to be embarased by the fact he is Pontios.
