The disciplinary body of UEFA fined Bulgarian professional football club Levski with 25 000 Swiss francs (15 182 euro) for hooliganism during the match against Finish Tampere in the second preliminary round of the Champions League.
The match took place on August 7 in the national stadium Vassil Levski.
Levski lost the match nil-one.
Football fans lighted two torches and threw bottles of mineral water towards the field and the members of the referee team, Focus news agency reported.
The height of the fine was determined by the recurrence of similar incidents at home matches of Levski and the fact that the incident was a seriously threat to the well-being of the officials at the match, Levski's official website said.
Levski had made improvements to the stadium's sector B and made an agreement with its fans for more self control in exchange for a lower profile of police presence at the matches.
Levski's management said it regretted that despite these improvements, spectators from the other sectors continued to throw objects towards the field and caused financial losses to the club.
