South African wines promoted at Vinaria show in Plovdiv

Four South African wineries’ representatives present at the South African marquee at the Vinaria Wine Show in Plovdiv would be presented by South African ambassador Sheila Camerer on February 24 2011, an embassy media statement said.

In total, there are eight South African wineries displaying wines and brandies never before offered in Bulgaria, the statement said.

At the Vinaria wine show, Bulgaria’s major wine-makers will be seeking recognition from the customers and media along with producers from 22 other countries, with more than 10 000 expected visitors to visit the show, which ends of February 26 2011.

The South African wines include Zandvliet, which participated last year and is acclaimed for its Chiraz; Bayede, a newcomer, and a wine supported by Zulu King Zwelethini, offering a full range of wine with all bottles being decorated with Zulu beads, the embassy statement statement.

Lastly, Welgegund, well known for its Pinotage and SML Wine offering wines and brandies from several wineries in the Wellington wine district near Cape Town are the brands which complete the list from South Africa. .

Camerer said that the South African department of trade and industry supported South Africa’s participation in the show in order to build on the reputation of South Africa wines in the country. Last year, South Africa was partner country of the Vinaria Show.

Vinaria 2011 is being held at the International Fair Plovdiv centre, from 9am to 6pm on February 23, 24 and 25, and from 9am to 2pm on February 26.

Admission, at the main entrance, costs three leva, while 10 leva tickets are available, enabling entrance for the duration of the event.
