BULGARIAN MINISTRY OF DEFENCE TO HOUSE FLOOD EVACUEES

The Ministry of Defence is ready to provide shelter to all people left homeless after the latest floods, Defence Minister Vesselin Bliznakov announced. Its military clubs can house 850 people from all affected regions. Bliznakov also said that 900 military personnel and 150 vehicles are aiding in the repair works after the latest downpours. The resources are being used for the repairs of 8km of road and the reconstruction of bridges, temporary shelters and irrigation systems. The army will be involved in the repair works until the end of October.
Around 6.5 million leva will be given for repair works by the national crisis centre, lead by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Disaster Management Emel Etem. The Ministry of Defence will donate an additional 700 000 leva which was to be used for military training. Starting today, flood victims will start receiving financial aid. Families that lost their houses in the floods will receive 1000 leva. A state of emergency is still declared in 15 municipalities, Novinar reported.
