An operation of the National Service for Combating Organised Crime (NSCOC) and the Stara Zagora police department revealed a human trafficking ring.

The ring aimed at taking Bulgarian women abroad, where the organisers forced them into prostitution, Focus news agency reported.

Four people were detained for managing the ring since 2002. They are responsible for providing passports and transportation for a number of poor, unemployed women.

The families of several women received money but most were forced to travel abroad for a period varying between three months and two years.

Also today, border inspectors seized 4.052 kg heroin at Vrushka Chuka checkpoint.

The narcotic substance was found in the car of two Bulgarians. The seized heroin costs more than 729 000 leva and is of very high quality.

Several days ago border inspectors at Kalotina found and confiscated 94 kg heroin.
