STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED IN BULGARIA'S SUEDINENIE MUNICIPALITY

Suedinenie municipality, located in the Plovdiv region, declared a state of emergency as a result of the heavy rain and snowfall.

Various buildings and terrains near the bank of Potoka River have been damaged, the main municipality engineer Kamen Stoichev said. The same constructions experienced damage after the summer 2005 floods.

The road to Pravishte, Tsalapitsa and Goliam Chardak villages is inaccessible. Agriculture plots in the region were flooded.

Maritza River flooded Capitan Adreevo border checkpoint, the Bulgarian National Radio reported. The movement through the checkpoint continues.

Tunja River overflowed, flooding parts of the Stara Zagora- Kazanluk road. Traffic jams resulted, making the passage in the region difficult.
