Upon its EU entry, Bulgaria is to be a full-fledged member of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
ECDC chairperson Zsuzsanna Jakab is on a work visit to Bulgaria in connection to mutual activities of the country and the centre.
Jakab will meet Health Minister Radoslav Gaidarski, Deputy Health Minister Atanas Dodov, state health inspector Tencho Tenev and specialists from the National Centre for Parasitic and Infectious Diseases, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
Discussions during Jakab's visit to Bulgaria will focus on infectious diseases control and priorities for co-operation between Bulgaria and ECDC.
After Bulgaria's EU accession the country actively takes part in all structures and programmes of ECDC. The centre aims at establishing uniform European structure for infectious diseases control.
