Berbatov among 50 highest paid footballers

Bulgarian footballer Dimitar Berbatov, the captain of his country's national team and a key member of the Manchester United squad,  is now the 37th highest paid footballer in the world, according to a Portuguese magazine.
 
The highest paid footballers in the world are Zlatan Ibrahimović of Intern and Ricardo Kaka of Milan, each earning 750 000 euro per month or nine million euro per year. Barcelona footballer Lionel Messi is in third place with with 700 000 euro per month or 8400 000 euro per year.

Other prominent names to appear in the top 10 include Chelsea players John Terry and Frank Lampard and Manchester United players Rio Ferdinand and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Berbatov occupies 37th place in the rankings, having to get by on a meagre 405 000 euro per month or 4 869 000 euro per year.  The Bulgarian player now earns more than the likes of Milan's David Beckham or his Manchester United teammate Ryan Giggs.
