Mall Plovdiv opened for business on March 19, in Bulgaria's second largest city. The facility absorbed 52 million euro worth of investment, ranking it among the top investment projects ever completed on the territory of the ancient city.
Embracing an area of 45 000 sq m, it boasts more than 110 major international companies and 11 cinemas.
"I am extremely proud of, and grateful to, all the institutions and partners that participated in the creation of this unique complex, combining the most modern technologies, wide array of retail business and, of course, entertainment," said Petar Dudolenski, executive manager of Real Estate Services Bulgaria (RESB), quoted by Stroitelstvo Gradut.
This is RESB's second project after the successful inauguration of Mall Sofia in June 2006. Currently, RESB also manages the realisation of Mall Rousse, Mall Stara Zagora, and the Park Tower office building in Sofia. The company is completely owned by Cinema City International, whose investments in Bulgaria already exceed 200 million euro.
Mall Plovdiv commenced construction in 2007 initiated by Studio 17.5 OOD, a Sofia-based company, with the main construction tasked to the local Sienit OOD, which is also involved in the construction of Mall Rousse.
Equipment in the mall was installed by Elektra Unitermak BG and General Electric.
The retail and entertainment centre is on the intersection between Svoboda blvd and Perushtitsa St. On the ground floor is the 2500 sq m Piccadilly store as well as banks, offices, mobile phone operators, a photo studio, a tourist agency, a pharmacy and restaurants.
It has an underground parking lot with capacity for 500 vehicles, in addition to an outdoors parking lot for another 200 vehicles.
"Due to the rapid realisation of the project, all parcels within the mall were rented out several months before the project's completion," said Dudolenski. "The complex has created employment for more than 1000 people within its perimeter, " he added.
