A 20-year-old Bulgarian was arrested on the evening of March 30 in the Dutch town of [[map:Blerick|Blerick, The Netherlands|]] when police found several bags of hemp plants on the back seat of his car.
According to local media, the bags contained a total of 295 plants. The vehicle was impounded and driver arrested.
After the arrest, police uncovered a hemp plantation in a house in the the nearby town of [[map:Steyl|Steyl, The Netherlands|]], where a further three suspects, including a further two Bulgarians, were arrested.
Inside the house, police found a working plantation where plants had recently been harvested.
The plants and equipment had been impounded and would be destroyed, local media said.
