The sale of liquor will be banned on election day in Bulgaria on July 5 2009 in accordance with legal requirements.
In Sofia, the ban starts at 6am and ends at 8pm on July 5. In the second-largest city in Bulgaria, Plovdiv, the ban will take effect from 6am on July 5 until midnight the same day.
In the town of Vratsa, for example, the ban will start at 7pm on July 4 and will end at 8pm the following day. It is the same case with the town of Dobrich where the ban starts at 9pm on July 4 and ends at 8pm on July 5.
The ban applies to stores, restaurants, bars, night clubs but not for places where family celebrations are being held such as weddings. Wholesales of alcohol are allowed.
