Varna-based industrial group TIM received on March 11 permission from Bulgaria's Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) to acquire of minority stakes in two Black Sea airports, in Varna and in Bourgas.
CPC said in a statement it allowed Chimimport, a holding company owned by TIM, to buy Molet, the parent company of BM Star, which in turn owns 40 per cent in Fraport Twin Star Airport Management, the two airports' concessionaire.

Turkish hotel chain Dedeman Hotels&Resorts International will take over the management of two Bulgarian hotels, owned by Turkish businessman Sudi Ozkan, Dnevnik daily reported on February 29. The hotel operator has already placed job ads to fill available vacancies in Bulgarian papers.
Dedeman will take over the Ozkan hotels - the 200-room Trimontsium Princess in Plovdiv and the 600-room Sofia Princess in the Bulgarian capital, in early March. The Turkish operator intends to invest in upgrading the two hotels which are currently rated at four stars.

The draft bill of Bulgaria's Condominium Act is ineffective and has been written in such a way as to serve the interests of heat, electricity and water utility companies, professor Vladimir Petrov from the Civil Association against Corruption and Illegal Construction said, as quoted by Dnevnik daily.
According to Petrov, the draft law in its current form aimed to deprive properties from owners who do not pay their utility fees.

Bourgas city hall plans to build three new residential areas in the suburbs, it emerged after mayor Dimitur Nikolov and his deputy in charge of construction, Kostadin Markov, met Bulgaria Building and Construction Chamber's members and members of the Chamber of Engineers in Investment Projects, Dnevnik daily reported on February 28.
Kiosheto neighbourhood, the area between Srafovo and Bourgas and Kraimorie neighbourhood will be developed as residential districts. The buildings planned for construction are two- and three-storeys, but also skyscrapers.

Bulgarian Trace Group, Patishta Holding and Glavbolgarstroy could be hired as subcontractors by the Bulgarian-Portuguese consortium picked to complete and operate the Trakia motorway under a concession arrangement, Regional Development and Public Works Minister Asen Gagauzov said on February 27, as quoted by Dnevnik daily.
On December 16, 2004, the Government awarded the concession to Magistrali Trakia Jsc, a Portuguese-Bulgarian consortium, which has to build a 190km stretch and repair 162 km of the Trakia Highway, receiving in return the right to collect the road toll for 35 years. The total length of road, which runs from Kalotina on Bulgaria's border with Serbia to Bourgas on the Black Sea via Sofia, Plovdiv, Orizovo, Chirpan, Stara Zagora, Nova Zagora, Yambol, Karnobat and Aytos, is 433km. Only 293.5 km are operational now.

Spanish construction company Bogaris, formerly known as Grupo Detea, would invest 15 million euro in the industrial park in Slatina area of Rousse, local authorities said, as quoted by Dnevnik daily.
The company would design and build manufacturing, storage and office premises, Dnevnik daily reported.

Local authorities would invest 28 million leva in the construction of a spa centre and three recreational centres in the village of Kroushouna, in Lovech region in northern Bulgaria, the mayor of Letnitsa municipality Krassimir Djonev said, as quoted by expert.bg.
The village of Kroushouna has become a popular alternative tourism destination for the Vodopada (Waterfall) cave, which resembles a water labyrinth, just 800m south of the village.

Federal Development, an international real estate development and asset management company, and Bulgaria's Petrol Holding, the second largest oil products wholesaler in the country, said on February 19 2008 they agreed to create a joint venture that would focus on developing mixed-use real estate opportunities in Bulgaria.
Initial plans focused on converting and redeveloping approximately 50 sites, owned by different entities within the Petrol Holding group of companies, including Petrol AD, Naftex Petrol and Evrocapital Bulgaria, which manages its real estate assets. These sites will be converted from oil servicing facilities to mixed-use developments that will likely include office, retail, and residential components.

Construction on the second bridge across the Danube river between Bulgaria and Romania would be delayed by four months to September 2008, Bulgarian radio station Darik reported on February 19 2008.
The reason for the delay of the project that would link Vidin in Bulgaria to Calafat in Romania, known as Danube Bridge 2, was that Spanish construction firm Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC) had not filed its technical project with the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, Darik quoted the ministry as saying.
