With the blockbuster season gathering momentum, it is somewhat depressing that the comic book adaptations and protagonists dominate every Friday's marquee with faculties out of dreamland, but we can't blame Hollywood for milking its favourite cash cow. Hancock, this week's addition to the genre, presents us with a hero who will be frowned upon at the posh club for champions of good, clad in bizarre tight

Sex and the City's foray to the big screen essentially bloats a fairly standard TV episode to inconceivable proportions. The 148-minute end product is in effect one gargantuan fix of the show, which had its emancipated heroines riding into the sunset in 2004 after six loved and lauded seasons. This is not necessarily a bad thing: die-hard fans, who used the show as a compass of cool, will be happy as hell. The film is made for them and as such it is a success. Those who do not count themselves as Sex and the City aficionados will probably spend the most boring two-and-a-half hours of their lives, and they should enter the theatre at their own peril. The third segment of the audience, consisting of people who found their channel surfing occasionally interrupted by the TV show's smart and ironic dialogue about sexual politics, will probably be mildly disappointed.
He couldn't have been a day over 20. His face was covered with the dirt of battle, yet was cleanly shaven; that is, if he even had to shave. He had the army-standard headgear and uniform, both had seen some wear over the past few months. He was wet and freezing cold and he knew that his mission this night was just getting underway. Although he was surrounded by others just like himself, he wasn't actually there in
Every year at the Turkey Bowl, the expat-Bulgarian rugby team Murphy's Misfits and an ad hoc team from the American embassy face off to see who has more stamina when it comes to chasing a ball around a muddy field in 7C weather. Thomas Sadowski spoke for the all-American side of the game. "The Turkey Bowl has been a tradition that was started before I arrived in Bulgaria by Bill Cherry, who worked for
No matter the weather, time of day or level of danger, Greek soldiers can be found standing guard over one of Kosovo's most famous Orthodox monasteries. Members of the 647th Mechanised Infantry Battalion have been protecting Sokolica Monastery since 2002. One squad, including one officer and 10 non-commissioned officers, is always on duty on monastery grounds watching for possible threats
Lamar Odom scored 21 points while captain Kobe Bryant added another 19 points and 10 assistances for the LA Lakers' win 99:93 over the New Jersey Nets. After that, Los Angeles' team climbed to third in the West conference standings. Meanwhile, the Nets registered their fifth consecutive defeat, though Vince Carter was impressive, scoring 21 points and 11 fights under the basket. Nenad Krstic also showed good
The free community newspaper which comes through my door each week recently contained a small piece on a Bulgarian delegation that visited Tower Hamlets, an inner-city suburb just outside the city of London. Tower Hamlets local authority gave their Bulgarian visitors a tour of local food manufacturers and restaurants in order to educate them in European Union food safety practices. Given
THE murder of top prosecutor Nikola Kolev shook the country and spawned a series of theories about the motives behind it. Kolev, 53, was shot dead near his home in the centre of Sofia on December 28 by two still-unidentified gunmen.
